The 800 pound gorilla in the living room is that with "Public Option" there has to be a way to conserve scarce resources. Right now it's done by indirectly through price. Insurance companies say "No" or "Yes".
Fact is that there were "Death and Dying Committees" once upon a time in the US. Before Kidney Dialysis became a "human right".
The people who object to "death panels" may be inaccurate in all details but someone has to call the shots on who gets what modes of treatment. That needs to be honestly discussed, not swept under the rugs.
A good counterpoint to the death panels are people who are dealt out of possible livesaving treatment by Doctors and Insurance Companies.
Why Progressives do not hash this out honestly is beyond me. They're not thinking this out sufficiently.
